A. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Have you ever met someone who has never sinned?

Do you think you have never done anything wrong?

Perhaps you have never murdered anyone. Perhaps you have never stolen anything or worshipped a false god. You may not have committed every sin mentioned in the Bible. You may consider yourself a good person— helpful, kind, honest, respectful, and may have done many good things for others.

But let us honestly examine our own lives:

Have you ever sinned against God?

Romans 3:23

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

The Bible makes it clear that every person has sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard. No one is exempt. We cannot compare ourselves with other people and say, "I am good enough." The standard is God Himself.

You can be a good person. You can help others, be kind to your family, give to those in need, and be respected by the people around you. But none of these things can remove the sin that separates us from God.

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death;"

Sin has a consequence. The Bible tells us that the wages, or deserved payment, of sin is death. If our sin remains unforgiven, we face the judgment of God and eternal separation from Him.

But praise God, that is not the end of the story.

Romans 6:23

"But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

There is good news! Although our sin deserves death, God offers us a gift that we could never earn—eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We have a sin problem that we cannot solve by ourselves, but God has provided the solution through Jesus Christ.
